Solstice Sun’s Eye for the Divine Male

Within my Wiccan practice, the Solstice Sun's Eye represents a benevolent Divine Male energy shining love on mine, yours, our successes, individually and as a whole. To make a Solstice Sun’s Eye, collect two 6-inch sticks or use popsicle sticks. Cut 2 pieces of orange and yellow yarn about 5 feet each. Hold two sticks crosswise and wind the yarn over the same two sticks several times before wrapping the other two sticks to bind in place. Be mindful of Divine Male energy as you weave up and over the sticks until you run out of yarn.  Tie on a new piece of yarn and continue weaving. The sticks will automatically move in the opposite direction of your weaving. Keep going in the same direction to keep the design.

I first wrote about this weaving ritual in The Wicca Cookbook in 2000 as a Medieval practice. I called it the God’s Eye. To carve a space for Wicca, I included Euro-centric practices because that culture was accepted. I knew instinctively of the Huichol people who create this multi-colored sacred work, as m matriarchal lineage geos back 7,000 years to Jalisco, Mexico. Now I have not traced my bloodline to the Huichol, however, I knew this Magick before I had evidence. At what point and what percentage of blood or pain can we claim our oldest ancestors? Still, of respect that I have not been trained in this lifetime in the ways of the Huichol, I now change the name of this magickal practice in deference to the tenacity of the Huichol to preserve what is theirs and clarify my intentions for this craft.

Consider the magickal properties of the colors you are using as you weave your Solstice Sun’s Eye. Orange for spirituality, success, attraction, adaptability, opportunities, motivation, harmony, encouragement, and happiness. Yellow for mental clarity, charm, light-heartedness, friendship, communication, joy, business, and solar energy. Pay attention to the Magick that you are weaving into your life. Be true to you. Add flowers like calendula for divine timing or bay for success.

Bay for Success

Greek Olympic heroes wore crowns of bay leaves on their podiums. Bay is an herb of success and so perfect for Summer Solstice Magick. Write your wishes on a bay leaf and watch it explode in a fire because of the volatile oils. Be fire safe.

I love this little ritual because that bay pop 💥is a visceral way to experience one of my favorite Wiccan lessons..Are you prepared for the results of your Magick?

Will you accept responsibility, abundance. The threefold Law of what you do will come back. The spell is cast and sealed with a pop. When your spells come true can you accept the joy?

I made this ceramic bowl the leaves rest in. I love making big family popcorn bowls like this. The stone necklace was given to me by my sister and so the continual cycle of giving and receiving goes. Sometimes all we have to do is look up, look around to see that Magick truly is everywhere.
